Garlic around April — growing, but still rather slender and tall.
June 2020
Harvested the garlic scapes. If left uncut, the bulbs stay small — though the scapes themselves are aromatic and delicious.
By late June, it was time to harvest. A few bulbs had already rotted... I wonder what caused it?

The harvested bulbs — many hadn’t divided properly. The cold Sendai weather shouldn’t be the issue, and I did remove the flower buds, so perhaps the soil quality is to blame. The reddish skins might come from anthocyanins reacting under acidic conditions. Typical Japanese soil... maybe I should add a bit more lime.
