August 2021

Beautiful sweet corn this year! It looks even better than back in 2019.
Corn loses its sweetness quickly in the afternoon, so it's best to harvest it early in the morning and boil it as soon as possible. Some people even say you should bring the water to a boil first — then run out to harvest!

We picked lots of tomatoes too — the summer red color is always cheerful.

Green peppers, tomatoes, and myoga (Japanese ginger). The colorful mix brightens up the dining table.

The myoga patch is thriving in the shade — it barely gets any direct sunlight, which seems just right for it.

Can you spot the myoga buds? They’ve just started to peek out from the soil.
